Privacy policy

MyNaija is a guide to Nigeria's heritage sites, developed by Samuel Adoga at Xiden Games. The app does not require an account and does not collect personal data.

Location

If you allow it, the app reads your device's location to show how far each site is, to sort sites by distance, and to place sites in AR view. Your location is used only on your device. It is never sent to our server or to anyone else, and it is not stored.

Camera and motion sensors

AR view, if you open it and allow camera access, shows your live camera image with heritage-site labels drawn over it, using your phone's compass and motion sensors to work out where to place them. The camera image is only displayed on screen. Nothing is photographed, recorded, stored or sent anywhere.

Network requests

The app downloads site descriptions and photos from our content server (mynaija-api.samuel-adoga1.workers.dev, hosted on Cloudflare) and map tiles from OpenFreeMap. These services receive the standard information any web request includes, such as your IP address and app version, and may keep short-lived operational logs. We do not use this information to identify you. All requests use HTTPS.

No tracking

The app contains no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. This website uses no cookies, analytics or third-party scripts.

Data stored on your phone

To work offline, the app keeps a copy of the content and photos you've viewed, and remembers that you've seen the introduction and your sort preference. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage removes all of it.

Links

Directions, sources and credits open in other apps or your browser, which have their own privacy policies.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.
